No início da última semana, o Twitter da Rádio Itatiaia pegou todos de surpresa com uma nova bomba no Atlético: mesmo com o ótimo clima, elenco e títulos, Cuca se reuniu com diretores e mecenas e avisou que não fica em 2022. O treinador fez um excelente trabalho nesta temporada e faturou três títulos: Campeonato Mineiro, Brasileirão (após um jejum de 50 anos) e CdB.
